Useful Information for Parents
Whether you hire a nanny, companion or caregiver, on a full-time, part-time, or casual basis to work in your home, you need to register for WorkSafeBC. If a domestic worker is injured in your home while on the job, WorkSafeBC pays for the worker's entire medical and wage-loss costs.
You can register with WCB by downloading the Employer's registration Application.
You may contact the Employer Service Centre at 1 888 922-2768 or 604 244-6181 to request an application, then fax your application to 604 244-6490 or mail it to WorkSafeBC, PO Box 5350 Stn Terminal, Vancouver, BC V6B 5L5.

Employers are required to make the appropriate
deductions from wages for income tax, Employment Insurance, and Canada Pension Plan, and to send that money to Canada Revenue Agency.
Domestic workers are entitled to a T4 form by the end of February setting out their earnings in the previous year.

An employer must complete a ROE form whenever there is an interruption of earnings. Generally, a ROE must be issued within five (5) calendar days of the interruption of earnings or the date the employer becomes aware of the interruption.
